Who would have thought that financial matters could be part of a fun night out, but this has proved to be the case since four Northamptonshire companies joined foces to organise several advice sessions for local businesswomen.

Handelsbanken has teamed up with Franklins Solicitors, Towergate Financial4Women and Cottons Accountants to organise women’s networking evenings based around tackling some of the financial issues that are necessary, but which so often get left on the back burner.

The latest meeting, at the Bell Plantation in Towcester, focused on a To Do List ranging from the more-fun daily chores at the top of the list to financial matters, including banking facilities, pensions, will making and tax issues.

The four companies each provided a short presentation on these matters while, in order to provide something a little bit different, Bell Plantation owner Ashley Warren gave a talk on growing vegetables and raising poultry.

Caroline Watson of Handelsbanken said: “Women can sometimes find it difficult to find time to attend to the inevitable pressing items at the end of their To Do List, but it is important that they feel they can get the right type of advice and feel at ease speaking to another female professional if they wish.

“Our aim is to provide that advice in an informal setting, make time for some networking and invite a guest speaker who can talk on an alternative topic, just to break the ice a little and make sure everyone relaxes and has a good time.”
